In our modern times, the auto is an essential part of life just like food and shelter. And with our natiional economy such as it is, everybody is trying to keep their cars longer.
Well when this happens and your car gets older, there are some things about your car’s maintenance you are going to have to become aware of. I have learned them from owning a San Diego Smog Check shop
One of those things is when you have to go and get a smog test for your car. Until your car hits seven years old, most people don’t even think about it.
But beware, if you fail the smog test, what could of been a simple $50 smog test could suddenly become a $300-$400 repair.
When you need your vehicle to pass a smog test so you can renew your vehicle registration, here are some tips you can take so your inexpensive smog test, can pass with flying colors.
So before you visit a smog test San Diego only center follow these tips.
First, be positive that your vehicle is running correctly. When you see that your vehicle is not running smoothly, go take it to a auto repair store and have them take a look to find out what is wrong. Then have it repaired before your smog check.
Second, an easy but necessary tip, take a drive.Remember passing the smog test means your car needs to burn fuel efficiently with as little or no smog emmissions a possible. When you don’t take the time to warm up the car, these causes the car not to have the correct combustion. If that happens, you stand a chance of failing.Just drive it for a few miles, 10-15, and you will have it running as optimally as possible when you bring it in.
Third, try to use fuel additives. This has to be done during the time you fill up your car with gas. You just add it to the gas tank. What’s going to happen is this gets the emmission levels lower because it cleans the intake of your car and exhaust paths. This allows the fuel and air to flow freely.
Fourth, inflate your tires to proper pressure. This little known tip helps your car drive more smoothly and more accurately during the smog check. This greatlly improves the emmission’s overall output because it helps the engine maintain a steady load.
Finallly, get an oil change. If the oil in your car does need to be changed and is contaminated, this can be a cause of failure when you take it for a smog test. Oils with contamination are high in hydrocarbons, and this will cause the car to fail the test.
Follow these simple tips and you will surely pass your smog test with flying colors. Take it from my experience running a San Diego auto repair service shop.
